Recently, Dr. Roseann was interviewed by the Ridgefield Hamlet Hub. Read the original interview here.
Shop small, do big things for your community
Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!
This weekt, the Hamlet Hub had the pleasure of interviewing Dr. Roseann Capanna-Hodge, a Psychologist who works with children, adults, and families from all over the US, supporting them with research-based and holistic therapies that are bridged with neuroscience. Her small business has become known as a center to which individuals and families travel to receive expert-level integrative therapeutic care. Check out the three questions HH asked her.
Why did you start your business?
I started my private practice 18 years ago with a passion and focus on using effective, research-based holistic therapies. This came after years of watching children, individuals and families suffer through unsuccessful attempts at traditional mental health therapies. As an expert in mental health with 27 years of experience, I see our current mental health system fail individuals and families every day through an over-reliance on medication and use of treatments that don’t get to the root causes. The problem with this approach is that the Central Nervous System does not receive adequate support, and coupled with increased life stressors, we now see a dramatic increase in physical and mental health issues in children. I am grateful that our center provides the highest level of care, and only uses research-based holistic tools to help our clients become and stay better.
Finish this sentence in regard to your business. “I wish I could…”
I wish I could help more individuals learn about how effective holistic therapies can be in supporting the brain and body, and encourage people to use them. So many research-based therapies have been relegated into the “alternative” world, but actually have more research to support their efficacy than psychiatric medication, especially with children. It is easy to get on the medication treadmill and be stuck there without really resolving the issue. Mental health is the only profession where no one seems to “check under the hood” and make treatment recommendations based only on symptoms. At our center, we use QEEG brain mapping to diagnose conditions and to guide treatment.
What is your best-selling product/service?
People come to our center from all over the United States because we provide research-based holistic therapies for mental health. We are best known for using neurofeedback and biofeedback therapies to support a variety of mental health issues and conditions, including ADHD, anxiety, social anxiety, OCD, depression, concussion, learning disability, dyslexia, Lyme Disease, PANS/PANDAS and more. We have become known as a center to which individuals and families travel to receive expert-level integrative therapeutic care. Our clinicians go beyond the surface of the issue to support a deep understanding of the root causes and assist clients in rectifying their concerns in a bio-individual manner with therapies that are bridged to neuroscience.
