Speech/Language Disorder Treatment

What Is A Speech & Language Disorder?

When a person is unable to produce speech sounds correctly, fluently or has problems with his or her voice, then they have a speech disorder. Sometimes speech issues occur on their own and other times, they co-occur with another disorder (for example, PDD, ADHD, or SPD). When a speech and language disorder is present, therapy from a licensed speech and language pathologist is imperative. Early intervention is critical for better therapy results.

How Can Neurofeedback Help?

Individuals with Speech and Language Disorders often display low brain wave functionality in the areas of the brain associated with language or along the motor cortex. Neurofeedback changes the brain waves ratios to healthier, more regulated functioning, and therefore improves communication, speech, and language.

How can Biofeedback help?

For those with anxiety, their entire nervous system is overstimulated. This heightened arousal state can produce physical and emotional symptoms. Biofeedback is designed to help the Central Nervous System (CNS) to calm down so one can self-regulate. One is therefore more in control of their CNS and not as easily flooded with stress, anxiety, and emotions.

How Can Biofeedback Help?

Biofeedback is designed to help the sympathetic and parasympathetic self-regulate resulting in the Central Nervous System (CNS) calming down, allowing one to more readily engage. For those with Speech and Language Disorders, their CNS is often dysregulated. Biofeedback uses subtle changes in the body to consciously register mindful acts leading to self-regulation, which results in improved communication, focusing and relaxing.
