Play And Expressive Arts Therapy

Therapists strategically utilize play therapy to help children express what is troubling them when they do not have the verbal skills to express their thoughts and feelings.* Through play, therapists help children learn adaptive behaviors, and gain tools for emotional and self-regulation, social skills, and executive functioning skills. Research, both qualitative and quantitative, shows that Play and Expressive Arts Therapy is highly effective in many cases.*

Our therapists use Play and Expressive Arts Therapy, a well-established discipline based upon a number of psychological theories, with many of our clients. In play therapy, toys are substituted for the child's words while play is used for the child's language.

When children play or individuals engage in creative arts therapy, their central nervous system calms down and they can address their issues more effectively.*
