Pulsed Electromagnetic Field therapy (PEMF) is an integrative tool and type of therapy that has been gaining popularity for the treatment of mental health and various health conditions, including Lyme Disease because it is safe, effective, and easy to use.

I use PEMF with clients all over the world and created the trademarked protocols in our portable PEMF device, CALM PEMF™. PEMF calms the autonomic nervous system and helps to relieve stress, especially with frequent use.

How PEMF Therapy Works

PEMF therapy works by emitting low-frequency electromagnetic waves that penetrate deep into the tissue, stimulating the cells and tissues. This stimulation helps to improve the body's ability to heal itself and reduce inflammation. It provides natural healing by boosting the immune system and regulating the nervous system.

PEMF therapy can be performed using a device that is placed on or near the affected area or placed near the heart or stomach for impact on the CNS. Our small, portable CALM PEMF™ device runs on 1-hr, 2-hr, and 8-hr cycles, and can even be used while you are sleeping. Multiple sessions are needed to achieve optimal results. CALM PEMF™ should be used at least a few times per week to support ANS regulation and a calm brain.

Common Health Issues PEMF is Used For

Lyme Disease

At our center, PEMF therapy Lyme disease sessions are different and require a client to sit for about an hour with a mat and sensor attached. Not everyone has the time to do that, so that is why we use a portable device and custom-designed PEMF Lyme disease protocols just for infections/toxins, obsessions/compulsions, focus/learning, stress/anxiety, and mood/behavioral regulation

Lyme disease is a bacterial infection caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi, which is transmitted to humans through the bite of infected ticks. Symptoms of Lyme disease can include fever, headache, muscle and joint aches, and fatigue, and if left untreated, it can lead to more serious health problems.

Neurocognitive and neuropsychiatric issues are also common with Lyme and tick-borne illness and can wreak as much havoc as physical issues.

Infections

PEMF therapy has been shown to have antimicrobial effects and can help to treat infections caused by various pathogens, including bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Even PEMF for COVID and long haulers has been studied as a treatment to support the immune system and related symptoms.

The therapy works by emitting low-frequency electromagnetic waves that penetrate deep into the tissue and stimulate the cells, increasing their ability to fight off infections. This helps to reduce inflammation, boost the immune system, and improve blood circulation, all of which are critical to the healing process.

Autoimmune Diseases

Autoimmune diseases occur when the body's immune system mistakenly attacks its healthy tissues, leading to chronic inflammation and a variety of symptoms. Autoimmune diseases such as thyroid disease, fibromyalgia, Lupus, MS, etc., are all increasing in the adult population.

PEMF therapy is effective in treating autoimmune diseases because it can help to regulate the immune system, reduce inflammation, and improve the body's ability to heal itself. Additionally, PEMF therapy can also relieve pain and improve sleep, which is often disrupted in people with autoimmune diseases.

11 Benefits: PEMF and Lyme Disease

11 Benefits of PEMF Therapy for Lyme Disease

While PEMF therapy has not been extensively studied for the treatment of Lyme disease, it has been shown to have some potential benefits for people with this condition. Additionally, PEMF therapy may help to boost the immune system, which can be critical in the fight against Lyme disease.

In addition to potentially reducing pain and improving sleep, Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) therapy may also have benefits for other symptoms associated with Lyme disease.

Here are a few of the ways that PEMF therapy may be helpful for people with this condition:

  1. Reducing inflammation: PEMF therapy has been shown to help reduce inflammation in the body, which is a common problem for people with Lyme disease. Inflammation can cause a variety of symptoms, including joint pain, fatigue, and difficulty sleeping, and reducing inflammation may help to relieve these symptoms.
  2. Improving energy levels: Many people with Lyme disease experience fatigue and low energy levels, and PEMF therapy may help to improve these symptoms by stimulating the cells and tissues in the body.
  3. Supporting the immune system: PEMF therapy has been shown to help boost the immune system, which is important for fighting off infections like Lyme disease. By improving the function of the immune system, PEMF therapy may help the body to better fight off the bacterium that causes Lyme disease.
  4. Improving mood and mental clarity: People with Lyme disease often experience mood changes, including depression and anxiety, and PEMF therapy may help to improve these symptoms. Additionally, some people with Lyme disease experience brain fog and difficulty with memory and concentration, and PEMF therapy may help to improve these symptoms by improving circulation and oxygenation in the brain.
  5. Improving joint mobility: Lyme disease can cause joint pain and stiffness, and PEMF therapy may help to improve joint mobility by reducing inflammation and improving circulation in the affected areas.
  6. Reducing nerve pain: Some people with Lyme disease experience nerve pain and PEMF therapy may help to reduce this pain by stimulating the nerves and reducing inflammation.
  7. Improving sleep quality: People with Lyme disease often experience sleep disturbances, including difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep, and PEMF therapy may help to improve sleep quality by reducing pain, reducing stress and anxiety, and improving the function of the nervous system.
  8. Supporting the detoxification process: Lyme disease can cause toxins to build up in the body, and PEMF therapy may help to support the detoxification process by improving circulation and the function of the liver and other detoxifying organs.
  9. Improving cognitive function: Some people with Lyme disease experience cognitive problems, such as memory loss and difficulty with concentration, and PEMF therapy may help to improve cognitive function by improving circulation and oxygenation in the brain.
  10. Reducing stress and anxiety: Lyme disease can cause stress and anxiety, and PEMF therapy may help to reduce these symptoms by promoting relaxation and improving the function of the nervous system.

Improving overall well-being: PEMF therapy has been shown to have a positive impact on overall well-being, which can be especially important for people with Lyme disease who may be struggling with a variety of symptoms. By reducing pain, improving energy levels, and improving sleep, among other benefits, PEMF therapy may help to improve the overall well-being of people with Lyme disease.

What Does the Research Say About PEMF and Autoimmune Disease and Inflammation?

Research supports PEMF

Autoimmune diseases are a group of conditions in which the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissues in the body. This leads to chronic inflammation, pain, and other symptoms that can have a significant impact on quality of life. While many live functional lives and manage the symptoms, others aren’t so lucky and can be severely impacted.

There has been growing interest in the potential benefits of Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) therapy for people with autoimmune diseases because so many are afflicted. The research is promising in several areas that can support inflammation and autoimmune function.

Inflammation and Pain Management

One of the key characteristics of autoimmune diseases is chronic inflammation, which can cause pain and other symptoms. PEMF therapy has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects on the body, and some studies have found that PEMF therapy can help to reduce markers of inflammation in people with autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis.

In addition, PEMF therapy may help to manage chronic pain in people with autoimmune diseases by reducing inflammation and improving circulation in affected areas. For example, it is used to target pain in specific areas of the body, such as the back or knee.

Immune System Function

Autoimmune diseases occur when the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissues, and there is evidence to suggest that PEMF therapy may have a positive impact on immune system function. Some studies have found that PEMF therapy can improve the function of immune cells and reduce the production of cytokines, which are molecules that contribute to inflammation and pain in autoimmune diseases.

Cognitive Function

People with autoimmune diseases may experience cognitive problems, such as memory loss and difficulty with concentration, and there is some evidence to suggest that PEMF therapy may help to improve cognitive function. It can support the function of the hippocampus resulting in improved memory.

One study found that PEMF therapy improved cognitive performance in people with multiple sclerosis, and other studies have found that PEMF therapy can improve circulation and oxygenation in the brain, which may help support cognitive function.

Sleep Quality

People with autoimmune diseases often experience sleep disturbances, including difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep, and PEMF therapy may help to improve sleep quality by reducing pain, reducing stress and anxiety, and improving the function of the nervous system.

Many people with autoimmune diseases are using PEMF therapy as a complementary therapy to manage their symptoms and avoid medication that may have side effects. If you're interested in using PEMF therapy for your autoimmune disease, be sure to discuss the risks and benefits with your healthcare provider to determine if it's the right choice for you.

Is PEMF an Appropriate Therapy for Lyme Disease?

PEMF therapy is a non-invasive, natural, and safe way to treat infections and autoimmune diseases. By improving the body's ability to fight infections and reduce inflammation, PEMF therapy can help alleviate symptoms, improve overall health, and enhance the body's natural healing process.

It's important to note that while PEMF therapy may have potential benefits for people with Lyme disease, it is not a substitute for medical treatment and should not be used as the sole form of treatment for this condition. It is important to address the underlying infections and toxins. PEMF for Lyme disease can be used in conjunction with other treatments.

Those who achieve long-term benefits from PEMF are people who use it daily to amplify the effects of PEMFs on the human body and nervous system. It is a powerful brain calmer and counters the effects of daily stress that affects us all. Whether addressing clinical conditions or simply trying to use PEMF as an anti-aging counter or stress mitigator, it is a generally safe and easy-to-use technology.

We use CALM PEMF™ portable device with our clients who love that they can “be calm anywhere, anytime™” with this easy-to-use device. If you or someone you love is affected by Lyme Disease, Tick-borne illness, toxins, or PANS/PANDAS, consider adding PEMF to your health regime. Calming the brain is a critical component in healing from Lyme, and without a regulated nervous system, the brain and body simply can’t heal.
