Research Based, Neuro Treatment in New Preston for:
What is Neurofeedback?
Neurofeedback is an effective therapy that can act an alternative to medicine. It can be used to study the information (feedback) from your brainwaves (neuro) to help produce change in your body. Usually your brain will self-regulate which helps to calm your nervous system and diminish your symptoms. Without self-regulation, a variety of problems can arise in your central nervous system. These problems can be anxiety, depression or even physical. Biofeedback is different from Neurofeedback because it revolves around autonomic functions.
What is Biofeedback?
Biofeedback is a therapy associated with controlling your bodily functions like breath, heart rate or skin temperature. Sessions will include attaching electrical sensors to your scalp to receive information (feedback) from your body (bio). This information will then be of use to our practitioners who will help you learn about subtle changes such as relaxing muscles or reducing stress. Biofeedback differs from Neurofeedback due to the focus on autonomic functions. When you have more power over your body, you’ll be able to live an improved state of health.*
What is QEEG?
A QEEG (quantitative electroencephalogram) brain map helps measure the electrical patterns of your cortical activity. This type of brain mapping is normally done through a computer analysis. We’ll then take your results, compare them to a database and figure out which patterns could be a sign of depression, anxiety or other conditions. We’ll use the results of your QEEG to determine the right treatment plan and progress for you.*

Common Neurofeedback & Biofeedback Questions:
How Does Neurofeedback Work?
To provide our New Preston patients with alternative therapies, we offer Neurofeedback. This therapy involves modifying your brainwave activity with the help of computers. Our practitioners will monitor your brain functioning in order to determine what brain frequencies need to be promoted or reduced. Then we’ll reward your brain to help reinforce a positive behavior compared to a negative. With the introduction of new electrical activity to your brain, we hope to reshape your brainwave activity to a more desirable and regulated performance. We also hope to reduce symptoms and help your brain self-regulate.*
What Does the Neurofeedback Process Involve?
Neurofeedback treatments start with a QEEG brain map where we will record your QEEG activity. Dr. Roseann will then analyze your results, review them and recommend a treatment plan for you to undergo. After your plan has been created, you can choose to start your Neurofeedback sessions immediately or when you find fit. A normal number of sessions can range from 20 to 100 or more.* A lot of our New Preston clients come to our office around twice a week. Your sessions will involve placing sensors on your scalp and ears while we provide you with brainwave reinforcement.
