Research Based, Neuro Treatment in Brewster for:
What is Neurofeedback?
Neurofeedback is a reliable, non-invasive form of treatment used to understand and change a patient’s neurological behavior. This behavior may be the underlying cause of various conditions. The brain activity is mapped out to the patient so they can take steps towards self regulating the behavior. Changing unwanted behavior will allow our patients to diminish the symptoms associated with their various conditions.
What is Biofeedback?
Biofeedback is a process of understanding the autonomic biological functions of our patient’s bodies. These include breathing, heart rate and skin temperature. These autonomic processes are monitored for the patient to understand how to better control them. Once a patient can self regulate these biological functions better, they can help diminish their symptoms. Controlling these processes has shown to alleviate stress and provide a healthy alternative to invasive therapies.
What is QEEG?
A quantitative electroencephalogram (QEEG) is a visual representation of an EEG scan. These scans show the cortical activity of the brain. Mostly, the measure of the electrical activity of various neurons in the neocortical areas. Once the QEEG data is taken, Dr. Roseann can reference the data and use it to establish a baseline for treatment. The QEEG data is used both to establish grounds for treatment, and also to understand how effective treatment strategies are.

Common Neurofeedback & Biofeedback Questions:
How Does Neurofeedback Work?
Neurofeedback works by helping patients modify their own brainwave activity. We begin by using a computer that will help monitor brain functions and waves that give feedback to our clients. Then, we provide our patients with methods that help them increase and reduce different brainwave frequencies. While they are retraining the brain, we also reward the brain for changing its activity. Using a strategy that consists of reinforcement and rewards, helps to produce new electrical activity and brainwave activity that will help “shape” the desired result. All of these efforts work to reduce symptoms and create a more self-regulated brain.*
What Does the Neurofeedback Process Involve?
To begin your Neurofeedback therapy, we first produce a QEEG Brain Map. This means that we record and analyze statistics from your EEG. Next, Dr.Roseann will review your brain map and show you which portions are causing your condition. She will also put together a treatment plan, and begin your Neurofeedback sessions immediately. These sessions consist of using sensors that are placed on your scalp and ears that will send out brainwave reinforcements while you watch a movie. The number of sessions is dependent on the patient, but they usually range from 20-100 sessions or more.* Most people will come into the office twice a week.
